AIIC Panellists: Background information
Klaus Ziegler Main speaker Coordinator of the AIIC Technical and Health Committee. Klaus Ziegler has a diploma degree in interpreting from Heidelberg University and has been working as a professional freelance conference interpreter, consultant, interpreter trainer and translator since 1992. From 2012 to 2016 he was Professor of Translation and Interpreting and Director of the Master’s Program in Conference Interpreting at Munich University of Applied Languages. Since 2016, Klaus has been working as a private researcher and his interdisciplinary research interests include AV technologies for interpreting, including distance interpreting. Klaus is a member of the ISO Committee responsible for developing standards for interpreting services and interpreting equipment. Within the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC), Klaus is the Coordinator of the Technical and Health Committee, and a member of the Advisory Board, the Task Force on Distance Interpreting, and the ISO Group.
Rachel Breviere Panellist Rachel has a diploma degree in interpreting from ESIT and has been working for 20 years as freelance interpreter in Paris. She has recently joined forces with two technicians and a colleague from the Chinese booth to set up A2JR, hub for Remote Simultaneous Interpreting. It is designed to promote interpreters working conditions and professional values.
Gaspar Obregon Panellist Initially trained in law in France, Germany and Hungary, Gaspar soon became a conference interpreter. Since 2013 he has been working for EU institutions, in particular the EUCJ. Belonging to the tech savvy Generation Y, he is a member of the AIIC Social Media Team and administrator of interpreting.info, AIIC’s Q&A website.
