INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

Celebrate International Women’s Day on 8 March. This idea was first mentioned at the end of the 19th century, but it was not until the International Year of Women in 1975 that the United Nations made 8 March the day to remember the achievements of women, regardless of race, religion or education.

Across the EU, women still earn 16.2% less per month on average than men, while in Portugal this figure is 19.1%.

In recognition of this fact, the EU created European Equal Pay Day. Last year this day was on 3 November, the symbolic date from which women stop being paid compared to their male colleagues.

Most of the staff at Traductanet are women. Our contribution to drawing attention to these inequalities involves the technical translation of numerous documents on this topic, as well as the simultaneous and consecutive translation services we supply to conferences on this important subject.
