Invented languages

Fans of TV favourites Game of Thrones and Star Trek will be familiar with the Dothraki, High Valerian and Klingon languages

High Valerian and Dothraki, for example, were created for Game of Thrones by the linguist David J. Peterson. He based them on fragments found in George R. R. Martin’s books, which he used to develop a grammar and 4,000 words in Dothraki and around 2,000 in High Valerian.

The popularity of the series was such that an online platform teaching High Valerian had 1.2 million registered students. It may seem a little odd to learn a language that does not exist in the real world, but it is a workout for the brain, since the ability to learn new languages increases with this kind of exercise.

Here at Traductanet we dedicate our efforts to real languages. Our goal is to offer our customers a professional translation service that may include other services, such as terminology, creation of thematic glossaries, multilingual SEO, transcreation and software localisation.
