What is immersion?

Language immersion is a way of learning a foreign language by studying it and using it as a tool in everyday activities.

It has been used in Canada for 60 years to teach English-speaking students the language, traditions and culture of French-speaking Canada. The students join classes with French-speakers and are taught entirely in French.

Studies of these immersion programmes show that the students start off behind monolingual students in reading and writing attainment, but that they soon catch up and, in the case of maths and sciences, even move ahead.

Not everyone has access to this kind of learning. However, language problems can be resolved in partnership with Traductanet, a translation and interpretation agency that specialises in language solutions for all multilingual communications, from software and website localisation, technical translation and transcreation to medical or technical terminology and multilingual SEO.
