Threatened languages

What happens to a language that disappears? What can we do to prevent it from being lost completely? For there to be a chance of recovering this heritage, ensuring the possibility of its future reconstruction, it is important to create a specialised archive of threatened European languages.

According to a report in the Público newspaper, this is one of the concerns of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Social and Language Documentation (CIDLES), which is seeking to bring together all existing research at the European level. Languages like Minderico, Sami and Frisian, which are threatened or in a minority in their original territories, will be preserved as the number of their native speakers declines.

Traductanet, a translation and interpretation agency, offers multilingual services to its customers, even in the less common combinations.
